June 2015 displays

For Fort Worth History Month

These didn't move as well as I thought they would, but a few Sesame Street books did go home with the little ones.

Check out some far away places and get your card stamped this chapter.

May Displays

"May the 4th be with you."
Our Star Wars books have not moved in the last year.
This was an attempt to increase circulation.  Sadly, it didn't work.

"Check out a gardening book" is part of the reading program this chapter.

There was also a quick "salsa" display on Cinco de Mayo.
No photos were taken.

We had the children make hand prints.  They enjoyed it!
The plan is to completely cover the wall by the end of the month.
We are featuring new books.
UPDATE:  When all was said and done, we had over 60 hand prints.

One of our littlest patrons found the
TRUE CRIME display and made it his own.

Trying to push the reading program in the stacks...

April 2015

We all dyed Easter eggs and sent an Easter wish to all of the libraries from SEM.  We received lots of good feedback and well-wishes from the other branches.

One of the displays encouraging folks to mark off reading cards.

 This was a FUN project!
We matched books to faces.
This got promoted throughout the system.  Yay!

In the children's area, there were plants, flowers, sunshine, seeds..you know, Spring stuff.

Chick Lit

 ...complete with chicks!
I replenished this display several times.

National Poetry Month
Everyone who returned materials saw this one.

I hung short poems and notes about it being National Poetry Month.
LOTS of poetry books went out.  Shel Silverstein is always popular.

Happy birthday, Van Gogh!
I replaced the book THREE TIMES.
I was surprised that the art books moved so quickly.

March 2015 Displays

It's National Craft Month...
I focused on knitting and crocheting
(with scraps from a coworker).

In honor of Leonard Nimoy...

In honor of Dr. Seuss...

February 2015 Displays

And this is the contest for teens this month.  I have had more issues with this than anything I have ever done in the library.  Adults were upset because they couldn't participate.  Children were upset and screaming at their parents because they couldn't eat them.  Someone even STOLE 13 of them.  This is NOT how I saw this unfolding.

And more for the teens...make and take valentines.
Sadly, the stickers and pre-made cards - all of them - were stolen.

I also made a new Graphic Novels sign.
If you look closely, you can see the letters are made from discarded graphic novel pages.

And for Black History Month...

We all created "WeeMee" characters and I decorated them with colored papers.  They look fun and the books seem to be moving.  YAY for promoting the collection!

December & January

This was in the children's area.  We had fun doing this and got lots of compliments!

The display case was my collection of red, white and blue snowmen.
