So many displays!

A co-worker did this music display.
She asked my favorite song, and after much agonizing to choose ONLY ONE, I went with Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are."

With so much violence lately, there needed to be PEACE.

Our library was a PokeStop.  At this point, only a couple of books and movies are left.

I took a picture of almost all staff members with their Pokemon.

We had a fundraiser for the local food bank.  In addition to a display, we had a "Fancy Schmancy Slider Fundraiser" with the staff, and in the heat of July, we had a sundae bar fundraiser.  I think in total, we raised $104!

We had a teen art program and participants got to be creative, so I hung their art in the teen area.
We even got to keep the picture the artist did during the program.

Texas...home, sweet home.

Displays - March 2016

I think it's very important to include all of
the staff in library marketing and displays.
Fortunately, the staff at my library enjoys having their
pictures taken...and nothing is off limits!

A coworker lent me a small quilt for this National Quilt Month display.

January Story Time

I got to do story time!

Our theme was birds and we read FOUR books (and the children even sat still for all of them!) and our craft was Cheerio rings for the birds,  They made one for our bushes, and one to hang up at home.  They were told to remember which one was theirs and to check for it when they came back to the library.  It was a BLAST!

January 2016!

New year, new hobbies...
This one hadn't been up for 10 minutes, and someone took the knitting book.  YAY!

January is National Tea Month, so of course....TEA POTS.

December 2015

Just a small Christmas display...

In the children's area, we made a paper chain tree and had the volunteers make snowflakes (because I am really not good at making snowflakes).  Some of our children colored pictures for us to hang.

Found a bookmark in a book...Teens are awesome!

The display case had men's fashion, complete with Christmas ties.  I tried several knots, but ended up folding some because in addition to not being good at making snowflakes, I am apparently not good at tying ties.

November 2015

Did you know that there was a "Chicken Soup for the Soul Day?"  Me, neither.  Obviously a commercial for the book series, it's November 12th.

One of our teen volunteers made some paper airplanes for this display.
There was also a teen "Plane Science" program
(at which there were 12 people, none teens.  *sigh*)
The display wasn't up for 10 minutes before one of the books was taken.
  and two days later...THIS!

Fall display

We had a blast making this tree!  We used three large lawn and leaf bags, did some twisting, and added tissue paper leaves.  The "blowing" leaves are our patrons who got new cards this month. The hope is to fill the entire wall with new patrons.

I was very surprised at the number of people who agreed to let me take their pictures...not just children, adults, too!
It is absolutely possible to look manly with a library card.

October Stuff

It's Library Card Sign up Month.  We put together this gift basket for a drawing.

This Banned Book Week display was kinda cool...a description of why the books was banned was on top, and when you lifted the flap, it showed you the cover of the book.  There were about 20 of them scattered around the library.

Check out a book with and orange or black cover
and get your reading card stamped!

Jackie Collins passed away this month.
We featured her books at one of the checkout stations.

We celebrated the birthday of Stephen King
by featuring his audiobooks.
And in the children's area, we all got Goosebumps.  R. L. Stine has a movie coming out this week, so I posted all kinds of facts about him and his books.
The display case is full of cake decorating paraphernalia.
These items circulated better than I thought they would.

We started the "You've Been Boo'd!" baskets .  We send goodies to two branches, who in turn, send goodies to two branches, etc.... We decorated Jello, pudding, and mandarin orange cups and made tissue/sucker ghosts.  We drew pumpkin faces on small oranges.
I don't think it's been done like this before... I hope our recipients enjoy them!

Also, Miss Rita is a cat.
